Ellie

Born Oct 6, 2016 · 10 yr

Before she became one of our most beloved residents, Ellie was known as the "Trail Kitty."

She lived deep in the woods near the West Orange Trail and spent her days watching people pass by. For months I left food for her while earning her trust one small step at a time. Ellie allowed exactly one thing: she could rub against me. I was not allowed to touch her.

Then Hurricane Irma approached, and I decided it was time to bring her somewhere safe.

More than a decade later, Ellie sleeps beside me every night and lets me know when it's bedtime. She now requires ongoing treatment for thyroid disease, and sponsorships help cover the medical care that keeps her healthy and comfortable. After all these years, she's finally exactly where she belongs.
