Lilith
Lilith's journey to APFH began nearly 2,500 miles away in California.
A Disney cast member saw a post on a Disney message board from someone desperately trying to find a home for a cat. Her owner had accepted a job in Ohio and was moving into an apartment with a one-pet limit. The family was taking their dog, but Lilith, a four-year-old black cat who was shy around strangers, was being left behind.
With Los Angeles shelters already full, the outlook was grim. A shy adult black cat had little chance of being adopted quickly and faced the possibility of euthanasia within days.
With less than 24 hours remaining, a kind Disney cast member stepped forward and offered to foster Lilith. That act of kindness bought her something priceless: time.
Then even more people came together to help. The wonderful team at Southwest Airlines approved Lilith for the SWATT program. A Southwest employee volunteered their day off to pick her up in Los Angeles, personally fly with her across the country to Orlando, and then fly home again.
APFH may be a small charity providing a home for homeless cats, but Lilith's story is proof that kindness has no geographic boundaries. From the person who fostered her, to the airline employee who flew her across the country, to everyone who refused to give up on her, an entire village came together to save one cat.
Because of them, Lilith is here today.
